General Information
Ground Transportation
If you are flying, the closest airport is the Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX). From there, you may catch the airport shuttle
to UCLA. Please call the day prior to reserve a spot.

If you are driving, here are the directions to UCLA.
- North Bound
Take the 405 FWY to Wilshire Blvd. East
Travel east three blocks to Westwood Blvd.
Turn left on Westwood Blvd.
Turn right on Le Conte to Hilgard Avenue
Turn left on Hilgard to Westholmes Avenue and make a left.
Proceed to Parking and Information Booth
- South Bound
Take 405 FWY to Sunset East
Take Sunset east to Hilgard Avenue and make a right turn
Take Hilgard Avenue to Westholmes and make a right
Proceed to Parking and Information Booth
- Parking: $8 per day
Parking permits are required at all times for the vehicles
parked on campus (including weekends). Permit must be purchased
15 days in advance prior to June 24, 2006.
Registration
Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunset Village
lobby area.
- Resident Lodging
- You will be staying at the Sunset Village Residence Hall.
- You will be provided with a blanket, pillow, hangers,
bed linens and towels.
- Each room has its own private bathroom. Please bring
your own soap, shampoo and maybe your favorite LARGE bath
towel.
- Also, please bring a small alarm clock; and, if you are
rooming with someone, a small reading light.
- Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
- Late check-out is available upon request.
Recreation
Residential guests have complimentary access to UCLA’s
Olympic-quality recreational facilities during their stay. Guests
can enjoy tennis, racquetball, basketball, and workout facilities
at the John Wooden Center or swim and sunbathe at the Sunset
Canyon Recreation Center. Both facilities are a short walk from
the residential facilities.
Telephone/In Room Internet Access
Each sleeping room is equipped with a telephone that allows
complimentary access to UCLA campus extensions. To make local
and long distance calls, guests must use a prepaid telephone
calling card. Phone cards are available for sale at the front
desk.
Guests who bring their own computer/laptop can access the Internet
directly via the Ethernet port in their sleeping rooms. In order
to access the Internet, guests must have the Ethernet card on
their computer software. If guests do not have their own Ethernet
card, they can purchase one through Covel Business Center located
directly across from Sunset Village.
Meals
For residents, all meals are included with your fee.

Clothing
Please dress comfortably. It gets warm in Los Angeles, and we
want you to be as as comfortable as you can be. Nights can be
chilly, so please plan to bring a light jacket or a sweater.
There will be a “Themed Shirt Days” and the schedule
is below. This is NOT mandatory, but can be lots of fun.

Local Attractions, Shopping, and
Entertainment
As a conference attendee you will find a wide variety of things
to do and see, right on campus! Popular attractions at UCLA
include the Fowler Museum, the UCLA Hammer Museum, the Franklin
D. Murphy Sculpture Garden, and the Mathias Botanical Garden.
And the UCLA Store is an excellent place to find almost any
souvenir or gift. Westwood Village, with its unique shops, excellent
bars, restaurants, and movie theaters is just a short walk from
the campus.
