State Reports... "Reaching New Heights" was the theme of the 2001
Nevada State Association Annual Conference that was
held on October 10 " 11 at Lake Tahoe. The conference
was well attended and the workshops provided an opportunity
for professional development. Special awards were given to Kim Coker (Western
Nevada Community College) and Sandra Guidry
(University of Nevada, Reno) for outstanding service to
the state association for over 20 years. A big thank you is
extended to Ben Loya (EdFund), Carmen Dominguez,
(Collegiate Funding Services) and Rhonda Neale
(EdFund) for their role in assisting with the planning of
this year's conference. Another big thank you goes out to
all of our sponsors, presenters and attendees who helped
make this a successful conference. Besides the state conference, we have had several fall
workshops conducted in the north and the south including

by EdFund. We were very fortunate to have the
Department of Education Electronic Access Conference
2001 in Reno, Nevada in November. The WASFAA sponsored
2001 NASFAA Fall Workshop on "Policies &
Procedures 2001: An Aid Odyssey" was held in December.
We are encouraging all NAFAA members to take advantage
of the training opportunities offered within our state.![]() The 2001-02 NAFAA Executive Council consists of the
following members:
President: Laura Whitelaw, Western Nevada Community College Vice Pres./Pres. Elect: Marsha Dupree, University of Nevada, Reno Past President: Al Camp, Western Nevada Community College Secretary: (Currently vacant due to Traci Fillippi of Great Basin College resigning to accept a job with a non-financial aid entity.) Treasurer: Lori Brown, Truckee Meadows Community College Private College Rep.: Yvonne Hicks, University of Phoenix NAFAA ended the year on a high note and is looking forward to an exciting year in 2002. |
