State Reports... We are looking forward to having the WASFAA conference
in Boise. Hats off to all those who are working on the
conference! It promises to be a great and informative
event. IASFAA is subsidizing $100 of the conference fee
for all IASFAA members who feel that it would help them
to attend. In addition,we are offering two scholarships for
IASFAA members to attend. We are also offering an ethnic
diversity scholarship to a WASFAA member.IASFAA held a PBS financial aid night in December . We feel that it has been beneficial and that it reaches a certain audience. PBS has been very good to work with and have given us some great time slots. In January, we published our first on-line newsletter. It has been a great success. It includes updates from committee members as well as school updates and spotlights. It also had many highlights of the IASFAA conference. In our first year, we expect to do the newsletter twice a year, and hope to "publish" it on a quarterly basis in the future. We hope it will keep our state members better informed. Much thanks go to our editor Kathreen Silva and others who volunteered to help. It can be viewed at: www.its.uidaho.edu/finaid/pdf/January_Newsletter.pdf I have been so impressed with all those in our state who volunteer their time and efforts on the IASFAA and WASFAA level. As everyone knows, the success of any state and regional association comes from its members who give of their valuable time. I would like to thank everyone in WASFAA and especially IASFAA who has been on a committee and/or has volunteered and helped in some way or another. There are so many of you! Thanks! |
