State Reports... The gavel passed at the December Conference for the
California Association of Student Financial Aid
Administrators (CASFAA). Connie Barton presided over
the 30th Conference held in San Francisco at the
Marriott. The Theme was CASFAA Connections. We connect
in many ways with students, parents, financial aid
partners and colleagues. The conference was designed to
learn and connect. Connie Barton departs as the 29th
(and still holding) president. The Gavel passed Tuesday
morning at the Business meeting to Linda Bisesi, Director
of Financial Aid at U.C. Hastings College of Law in San
Francisco.Linda has begun her year as president with many exciting activities. The web site that has housed the California Association of Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA) web page has changed. Although the transition will be seamless to the membership, our new provider will be ATAC. Linda is putting together a Steering Committee to oversee the development of the new website. Linda is also looking for a Webmaster and Web Content Master. If you have special expertise and interest in this area, you can send a brief resume to Linda. Our newly elected Ethnic Diversity Chair, Marco DeLaGarza from CSU Northridge was unable to serve as Chair. Mai Bui, Hope International University has accepted the appointment and been endorsed by the Executive Council. And a bit of information about one of our California Colleagues. Edwin Fletcher, Financial Aid Counselor, at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona has been training over three years in an attempt to qualify on the Puerto Rican/Americans Bobsled Team for the Winter Olympics. As if financial aid isn't exciting enough. Watch for him during the Olympics. CASFAA future Executive Council meetings are scheduled for February 4 & 5, April 4 & 5, June 6 & 7, August 1 & 2, and October 3 & 4. |
