Also, in an effort to invigorate and generate new members and volunteers a new activity is being planned in the fall that mirrors the former workshop that WASFAA held several years ago at its San Diego conference. |
State Reports... OASFAA held its election in March and the results were
as follows for the 02-03 officers:Past-President: Sam Collie, Portland State University President: Tracy Reisinger, University of Portland President-Elect: Jim Eddy, Willamette University Treasurer: Theresa Bosworth, Blue Mountain Community College Secretary: Suzie Petersen, Klamath Community College VP 2-yr Public: Mary Jo Jackson, Clackamas Community College VP 4-yr Public: Sandy Mountain, Western Oregon University VP Private: Dave Allen, Multomah School of Bible/Seminary VP Proprietary: Mickey Jacobson, The Art Institute of Portland We have a great new board and have gotten off to a fast and furious start with our transition meeting in March and another on the way in June. The board is implementing and considering lots of new ideas. First of them being possibly moving the OASFAA website, membership database, and listserv to ATAC Corporation through the WASFAA website. OASFAA has decided to move forward with a change in how it handles its fund development requesting process. Instead of asking vendors for funds for individual events we are going to a tiered system where vendors would be classified as "Silver", "Gold", or "Platinum" vendors based on the amount they give to the organization. Their status would then determine the type and amount of recognition they would receive at the different activities or events. This should simplify the process for both the vendors and the organization. In an effort to regain some lost knowledge and information OASFAA has set up two new ad-hoc committees to do Archives, and also to research and prepare a complete listing of all past executive board members as well as all past award recipients. We are going into our 35th year and want to make sure we don't lose track of all the great volunteers and members we've honored in the past and who've helped make OASFAA what it is today. Also, in an effort to invigorate and generate new members and volunteers a new activity is being planned in the fall that mirrors the former workshop that WASFAA held several years ago at its San Diego conference. "Training of the Trainers" will train members and volunteers to development them as leaders and presenters both in the organization and professionally. In addition at the 2003 Annual Conference we will be incorporating several ideas for newcomers including a business card contest and a "cubreporter" type contest where the person will take pictures of members and collect their names and if they've been involved in OASFAA before. Those that have the most pictures and information will win and pictures will then be sold at the conference. This will hopefully connect newer members with "more seasoned" members and also get the newer ones excited about participating and volunteering in the future. |
