State Reports... The Alaska Association of Financial Aid Administrators
(ALASFAA) has had an exciting and thrilling year.
Our spring conference is an opportunity to come
together and network, shed our cabin fever and begin
planting, hiking, sightseeing our beautiful purple mountain
majesties, and last but not least the beginning of fishing
time! Whether you'd rather be on the emerald green
Kenai river or out in the middle of big 'blue,'Alaska in the
spring and summer is like no where else. Just having the
golden opportunity to breathe fresh air and use that new
digital camera is worth every minute of enduring our
winters. How very rejuvenating spring is! How nice it was
to see folks from other Alaska schools and our vendors.
The sessions were jam-packed with information and were
well attended. Tamara Hornbuckle is president-elect and
Alexis Daniels has been voted in again as secretary-treasurer
and will serve another two years. We survived revamping and updating of our policies and procedures, and bylaws. As we all are painfully aware this is a time consuming, yet rewarding endeavor.By having this document up-to-date it allows all member to easily become (re) acquainted with our Association and how we do business. How happy we are to have accomplished this important task. oWe are also updating our ALASFAA directory of 'who's who' in financial aid, to be published later this summer. oDepartment of Education is planning EDE training this summer, location yet to be determined. Planning is underway for our fall conference, which will be in late October, location to be determined soon. A heartfelt thanks to those volunteers who toiled all year - we appreciate the donating of your time. |
