Awards Nominations
The NASFAA Awards committee invites all members to
consider nominations for this year's NASFAA awards.
Award information can be found at www.nasfaa.org. The
deadline for awards this year is a nomination postmarked
by February 22, 2002. One of the awards where the committee
is actively soliciting nominations is the NASFAA
Leadership Award which is awarded in each region, You
may nominate someone from outside your region if you
know of their involvement at their own state or regional
level. Criteria is as follows:
The NASFAA State and Regional Leadership Award is
presented to individuals, who need not be financial aid
administrators, who have made outstanding contributions
to the financial aid profession at the regional and
state levels over a sustained period of time, i.e., seven
years or more. Leadership at the national level is not a criterion
for this award, and the selection process will not be
limited to current regional and state elected leaders.
Current members of NASFAA's Board of Directors,
including non-voting members, are not eligible to receive
this award. The individuals selected for this award must:
- exhibit high integrity and character;
- have shown creative leadership;
- have inspired and encouraged others to participate
actively in professional development activities;
- have continued active involvement in professional
organizations after holding elected office;
- and
have supported the goals and objectives of NASFAA.
Another award is the Meritorious Achievement Award.
This award is presented to an individual who has made an
important contribution to the Association or to the profession
that the Association wishes to recognize. To
receive a Meritorious Achievement Award the individual
should have made either:
- an important single contribution to the Association or
the profession;
- or
significant multiple contributions to the Association or
the profession.
The Lifetime Membership Award is the highest award
that NASFAA can bestow on one of its members or an
individual who is affiliated with a member organization.
In order to be eligible to receive this award, the individual
must first be employed by a member institution, be an
affiliate member, be employed by a constituent or associated
member organization, or be a student member.
Inasmuch as this award is the highest that NASFAA can
bestow on a member, the achievements and contributions
of the individual must truly be outstanding and significant.
Normally, the individual will have made these contributions
and achievements over a sustained period of
time. That is to say, this award is not typically made for a
one-time achievement or effort, but for working over a
sustained period of time for the Association and the profession
in important capacities, and contributing significantly
to NASFAA's success in meeting its goals.
Other awards and nomination forms are included at
the NASFAA site as well as names of prior recipients.
Please take the time to help us recognize such individuals.
