State Reports The Washington Financial Aid Association had another
great fall conference. This year we met in Spokane from
October 10-12 th . The conference committee co-chairs
Jennifer Freimund and Thayne McCulloh, and their committee
members did a great job planning for and putting on
the conference. Many thanks to each and every one of them.Often the annual business meeting that takes place during conferences is not the highlight of the conference, but this year it was made memorable by the strings in the background. Yes, the event in the room next door at 8:30 on a Friday morning was a chamber orchestra recital. Our discussion and decisions were punctuated with a flurry of strings or slow crescendo. One surprise decision that occurred at our business meeting was the adoption of our conference logo as our new official WFAA logo. You never know what may happen at the WFAA annual business meeting. I was just grateful that it was a string orchestra in the room next door and not a brass band. WFAA is looking forward to a review of our bylaws, visiting our state capitol on January 8, 2002, launching our new Electronic Services Committee, and adding an additional training opportunity this winter. All the WFAA committees have been busy providing support and resources for our members this year in exceptional way. |
