PacFAA has expanded its outreach and early awareness activities into the community with the help of many partners. |
State Reports Fall training, family night workshops, career fairs, committee
meetings and we've only just begun. I feel privileged
to serve as President this year with so many members
involved in association activities. It is true that you
can accomplish a lot if you have more hands to help. I
have an outstanding PacFAA council and excellent committee
chairs. Together, we are accomplishing our objectives
and having lots of fun in the process.PacFAA has expanded its outreach and early awareness activities into the community with the help of many partners. Comic and activity books designed by EdFund and co-sponsored by PacFAA were distributed in September by the State of Hawaii's GEAR-UP program to several elementary and middle schools. In addition to College Fair, PacFAA has coordinated Family Night Workshops with several local high schools on all four major Hawaiian Islands. College Goal Sunday, an USA Funds co-sponsored event, will be providing assistance to low-income families to complete the FAFSA in the month of February. PacFAA participated in the Oahu Job Links Career Fair with an exhibit table and a Financial Aid Workshop. The Career Fair was held in October to support Hawaii's Visitor Industry Workers who lost their jobs after the September 11 th tragedy. Our world has changed in many ways and we are experiencing life with a whole new perspective. Your understanding and patience in working with families during the upcoming school year will help to mend and build relationships. We have much to be thankful for living in America but most of all for the people and communities we get to serve. On behalf of the families that we serve, my thanks to each PacFAA and WASFAA member who volunteers in association activities to deliver financial aid information. |
