CASFAA, holidays, semester break, here we come. For the California Association, we are winding up our year. December is the time when many of you take a deep breath, say goodbye to students, eat great home cooked meals, and your state association takes a little bit of a breather too. Well for California it is almost the changing of the gavel. We have our major conference in December. This year we will be in the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco. The lights, the excitement, the city... what a great time of year for a conference. Our theme is CASFAA Connections. We connect with so many in our profession. The Conference Committee has developed an outstanding agenda geared for all segments and levels of our profession. It has now been 30 years for our Association. As the Association has grown each and every year, we are now seeing the largest number of members ever. With new members, come new volunteers.

I look back on my year and my goal for the Association was to develop and encourage volunteerism and new leadership. We are seeing so many of our long standing leaders retire, to that we will acknowledge and give honor those that are now leaving the profession. We will be looking to new leaders to take on the leadership roles they have filled so graciously for the past 30 years.

As I hand my gavel over to Linda Bisesi, UC Hastings, College of Law, at the conclusion of our conference, I look back on a year where I grew as a leader and encourage anyone who is considering getting involved with their state association, Just Do It. It's such a great experience.
