WASFAA Happenings ... Thank you to the Executive Council for the 2002 Meritorious Achievement Award. I appreciate your recognition and the fine work you are doing with the Association. I have enjoyed my relationship with WASFAA over the years. As you may know, I retired from Sonoma State University on November 30th, 2001 after spending a little over 35 years in the financial aid profession. Unfortunately, I had to miss the Annual Conference, as I was seriously pursuing my dream of securing a part-time position in the wine industry. With a relatively good background already established, I accepted a position as Wine Sales Associate at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, Ltd. in Santa Rosa. This wine facility represents nine separate wineries (focusing on the Kendall-Jackson Estate Wineries) and continues to give me direct contact with the public and with the development and promotion of the wine industry in Sonoma County. Needless to say, I am enjoying my time in the tasting room promoting nine wineries and over seventy five excellent varieties of wine. You can access the web site at: www.kj.com if you wish to check it out. But I could not stay away from the Financial Aid profession and agreed to co-chair the 2002 CASFAA Conference with our beloved Addalou Davis. The CASFAA Conference, "Celebrating 3 Decades of CASFAA", is scheduled for December 16-18, 2002 (Monday- Wednesday) at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, and you are all invited to attend. No, I cannot offer you a free room, but I will be pleased to discuss anything about wine that you wish to know. Best wishes to everyone and I hope to see you all again someday.
