President's Report
by WASFAA President Addalou Davis, McGeorge School of Law

I was sitting here wondering what in the world I could write about for this issue given the fact that this will be my last one! Well, as luck would have it, several things have happened to make life interesting over the last week.

Number one, the California Department of Motor Vehicles wrote me a computerized letter and sent it with a new set of plates for my darling little car and took my WILDTHG tags away from me!!! I've had these tags since 1999 and now they say someone else had a hold on that plate 2 days before me. I cried. I'm also fighting!

Then, I told my son that when I go to Hawaii for the Executive Council meeting that I am going to buy a bunch of mu'u mu'us and I'm excited about that. His response: "you won't drive a 4-door car, but you will wear a mu'u mu'u? Don't you be wearing it around me and don't you DARE go to the store in one of those things." Cute.

It is deadline week (as it must be nationwide) and all these Finaid-L messages start popping up about FOTW. I ask myself, "self? What in the world is FOTW?" Then one after another students start coming in to say that FAFSA on the Web won't work. Big clue, here. Oh, so that is what FOTW is!!! What is it about financial aid types that we turn everything into an alphabet?

As I was preparing the agenda for the Hawaii meeting, I started getting all choked up because it will be the next-to-last agenda I get to prepare. I called Catherine and told her she was going to have to play tug-of-war with me to get that gavel out of my hand when it comes time on Tuesday morning to turn it over to her at the Conference. This year went all too fast and I am having the best time of my life. I recommend running for WASFAA office to everyone! WASFAA rocks!

Then last night turned out to be one of the worst nights of my life - The Grammy Awards had Bob Dylan perform when West Wing was on the other channel - how rude! I had to keep flipping back and forth with the remote control and everyone knows that is a "man" thing. It is really annoying to a woman who complains to her spouse and son to "QUIT DOING THAT!" when they constantly surf with the remote control.

The students are at the counter complaining about FOTW, so I'd better quit this and get out there. Thanks everyone, I have so enjoyed being your WASFAA president and am looking forward to an exciting year with Catherine at the helm, she is a wonderful person!
