E aloha kakou.

With the backdrop of Diamond Head as the setting for our April training, Catherine King-Todd, President-Elect of WASFAA, led a lively discussion with PacFAA members on a series of excellent workshops covering FERPA, Packaging Policies, and Program Participation Agreements. A National Student Clearinghouse presentation by Melanie Bell rounded off our training in the afternoon.

Frank Green, PacFAA President, officially convened our Annual PacFAA Meeting to thank his executive council and to welcome the new PacFAA officers. WASFAA Conference scholarships were awarded to Ms. Trinesca Dandy of Hawaii Business College and Ms. Colleen Arakaki of Chaminade University of Honolulu. PacFAA hosted WASFAA's Management and Leadership Training last summer and did not receive applications for this scholarship.

Upcoming Activities:

As a follow-up to Family Nights, PacFAA will be co-sponsoring "College Goal Sunday." During College Goal Sunday, low-middle income families receive personal assistance in completing the FAFSA. PacFAA has also started an Early Awareness program for elementary and middle school students. Comic books printed by EdFund and distributed to schools through Reading and GEAR-UP programs will help carry the message about early career and financial aid planning.

The opportunity to make a difference in someone else's life is with us every day. It is within everyone's power to smile and to have a kind word to say. Time is not easily managed but it can be measured. How do you measure your time? What opportunities are you ignoring? We are looking forward to a productive and exciting year. We send a warm mahalo to all incoming executive councils for your measure of time and for your commitment.
