State Updates...
Pacific Islands Update
Frank Green, PacFAA President
www.kauaicc.hawaii.edu/pacfaa

During November, December and January, PacFAA was kept busy with our presentation on filing the 2001-02 FASFA and general financial aid information at our High School Parent Nights. This year we had twenty presenters who combined to cover all of the schools on Oahu and most of the neighboring island schools. Our thanks to American Savings for their generous support in providing the materials given out to over 5000 students attending these sessions.

PacFAA's annual Spring Conference was held March 28-29. This year's theme was 'Communicating Beyond. com' with emphasis on maintaining and enhancing communication skills between students and professionals as well as among colleagues in this ever-increasing high tech environment.

PacFAA will be honoring two very special individuals at our Spring Conference this year. Life Time Member Awards will be presented to Judie Crummel; long time Federal Trainer (retired) for Hawaii, local resident and great supporter and friend of PacFAA, and Linda Kilburn; retired this year from the USA Group after more than 20 years of service and support, friendship and guidance, to the local financial aid community and our students.

Elections for next year's board are complete. New Board members were introduced at the Spring Conference and assume duties on May 1, 2001.

Congratulations to Jannine Oyama - the incoming Ethnic Diversity Action Council Chair for WASFAA on her new position in the Financial Aid Office at Honolulu Community College.

Presenters were:
        Mary San Agustin, Palomar College
        Jannine Oyama, Honolulu Community College

        Joe Lane, Edfund
