President's Report
by WASFAA President Doug Severs, Idaho State University

Thanks for a Great Year!
It has been a great year for me serving as your WASFAA President. I have really enjoyed visiting each of the State Associations and meeting so many great people. Our profession has the best people! We are hard working, fun loving and we do care so much for the students that we serve.

I believe that serving our students as a Financial Aid Counselor is one of the most challenging positions in higher education. As a Financial Aid Counselor we have to know the regulations and be an empathetic counselor and get all the paperwork finished. (Is it ever really finished?) This WASFAA Newsletter's focus on Counseling and Advising is very relevant. I think it would serve WASFAA well to encourage and support a study on what makes a good Financial Aid Counselor.

This past year we have depended more and more on utilizing email and our WASFAA Web page to communicate with members. We feel we have had great success with this transition from paper to electronic communication. I am sure WASFAA will continue in this electronic migration and save more of our trees.

WASFAA is a great organization and will need our support to continue to be successful. Thanks for a great year!

Doug Severs
