The 2001 WASFAA Management and Leadership Institute will be held at Salishan Lodge, November 3 - 7, 2001. The MLI is a new and revised version of what was once known as the WASFAA Advanced Summer Institute. The same underlying foundation, which has always provided excellent training to Financial Aid Professionals, is still in place. The annual cycle for the MLI is shifting from late spring to the fall in hopes that it will be a better fit with the financial aid cycle and more professionals will feel able to attend.

The new focus on the MLI is to provide a more retreat like setting for reflection and focused discussion of relevant financial aid topics. This year MLI will target areas of importance in effective operations in financial aid in a retreat atmosphere at Salishan Lodge on the Oregon Coast. We are limiting participation to just 40 so that we may maintain intimate and focused sessions. We will have guest speakers from all areas of education to facilitate stimulating discussions among the participants. Faculty members presenting sessions at the MLI include Ed Reeves, Attorney, Portland; Dr Larry Roper, Vice President for Student Affairs, OSU; Dr. Andrea Cook, Vice President for Student Affairs, George Fox University; Craig Johnson, MBA Faculty, George Fox University; and Addalou Davis, WASFAA President and Director of Financial Aid, McGeorge Law School.
