Idaho State Update
by IASFAA President Cheryl Anderson,
Idaho State University
www.isu.edu/departments/finaid/stdiasf.htm

We have a new employee at Idaho State University. Her name is Connie Guthrie. She has filled the position vacated by Dwight Berreth who is now working for Barb Alm at Boise State. Connie comes to us from Maryland where she was a FAA with Wor-Wic College in Salisbury. She is by far the smallest person in our office (she has to stand on her tiptoes to help students at the front desk), but has a sense of humor that stands 10 feet high! Welcome Connie.

And as some people come to Idaho, others leave. We were really sorry to see Leonard Walker go from Lewis Clark State College to Oregon State University. But our loss is Kate Peterson's gain, eh Kate? We need to make Leonard an honorary IASFAA member so he'll have to keep coming to our meetings where he has a habit of making everyone SMILE. Leonard is the creator of the diversity scholarship form for WASFAA 2002 in Boise which will soon be on our website.

Ricks College will soon have a new look and a new name. They are changing from a two-year college to a four year school and will be called BYU - Idaho. They will be touting a new look in that they will be strictly an academic institution without any athletic program, much like BYU - Hawaii. It should be an interesting change for all involved!

Plans for our fall conference are coming into focus. October 17 and 18, we will have our meeting at Templin's Resort on the beautiful Spokane River. Some of the highlights include a two hour luncheon cruise on the wonderful new West Coast Queen! The leaves on the trees should still be in color so it should be a breathtaking cruise! We'll also be having an auction to raise money for future scholarships to WASFAA meetings.
