Washington State Update
by WFAA President Lana Walter,
Northwest College

There were three elected positions open for the 2000-2001 Executive Council for Washington Financial Aid Association (WFAA). The following professionals were newly elected:
   President-Elect Wendy Olson, Whitworth College
Vice President Tim Henning, Gonzaga University (for Legislation)
Treasurer Karen Driscoll, Spokane Falls Community College

The other positions of the WFAA Executive Council include:
Secretary Marla Skelley, The Evergreen State College
Vice Presidents Kathleen Koch, Seattle University (for Training) School of Law
   Traci Stensland, Whitworth College
Past-President Janet Cantelon, University of Washington
   President Lana Walter, Northwest College

The Executive Council (EC) has scheduled a transitional planning meeting for May 2000. The "old" and "new" members of the EC will plan for the new year, set goals and provide a crash course for the new members on the council. Last year, the transitional meeting was warmly received by those in attendance; it was a great venue for getting a jump-start on WFAA business.

WFAA will be celebrating its 30th birthday in 2000! The conference and celebration will be held October 23rd to the 25th in Leavenworth, Washington. Leavenworth is Washington's-own "Bavarian Village." It's nestled in the Cascade Mountains, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Fall activities include hiking, golfing, hayrides, shopping (great little unique shops), and fall foliage viewing. If you are interested in Leavenworth, check out their website at www.leavenworth.org.
