Idaho State Update
by IASFAA President Cheryl Anderson,
Idaho State University
I am excited by the opportunity to serve as IASFAA's president
during the 2000-2001 year. Our new executive board will
be having a one day retreat to use as a planning session for the
upcoming year. By doing this, we're hoping to get a head start
on state activities and plan for our fall conference as well.
In March, IASFAA hosted a WASFAA/NASFAA training in
Boise. It was a two day training with approximately 35 in attendance.
I really think the highlight of the two day session was
Barb Alm's 50th birthday, with her entire Boise State University
staff dressed in black for the occasion. The training itself was
informative and well presented.
At our last state meeting, the members voted to offer a diversity
scholarship for the 2002 WASFAA meeting in Boise to
encourage individuals to come to Idaho and see what a great
place 99.9% of it is. The form is ready to go and will be promoted
throughout the next year and a half, including as an enclosure
in future WASFAA newsletters.
We are planning to continue our December broadcast of a financial
aid information panel with a question and answer session
for the audience. The show airs for one hour and is seen on local
PBS stations throughout the state. We have had good success
with it in the past and look forward to fine-tuning it this year.
The IASFAA annual conference will be held in Post Falls
October 17th to the 18th at Templin's Resort along the beautiful
Spokane River. We're looking forward to a great time!
