WASFAA Scholarship Application

WASFAA is pleased to offer to our membership scholarships. Each scholarship provides a free registration and in some cases travel assistance (recipient must use WASFAA Travel Reimbursement form). Scholarship winners are responsible for current WASFAA membership dues.

Each scholarship recipient is responsible for writing an article for the WASFAA Newsletter (i.e., their experience at the event, benefits of being a WASFAA Scholarship recipient, etc.). The deadline for applying is 60 days prior to the start of the event.

Ethnic Diversity Scholarships
 CLOSED - Ethnic Diversity EDAC Annual Conference Scholarship
             April 6 – 8, 2008 in Seattle, Washington at the Westin

Amount: $5000 total with award amounts varying based on the applicant pool
Timeline: Applications will open December 15, 2007, close February 6, 2008
Purpose: To provide access for WASFAA minority membership to attend the WASFAA annual conference for expanded training opportunities beyond those offered at state conferences


 CLOSED - Sister Dale Brown Summer Institute Ethnic Diversity
              (EDAC) Scholarships

              June 8 – 13, 2008 in Reno, Nevada at the University of Reno

Amount: $5000 total with award amounts varying based on the applicant pool
Timeline: Applications will open February 15, 2008, close April 8, 2008
Purpose: To provide access for WASFAA minority membership to participate in hands-on Financial Aid 101 training opportunities beyond those offered at state conferences


 EDAC Jerry R. Sims Leadership & Management Institute
 October 22 – 24, 2008 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada at Harrah’s

Amount: $3000 total with varying award amounts depending on applicant pool
Timeline: Applications will open July 1, 2008, close August 22, 2008
Purpose: To provide attendance and regional representation for WASFAA minority membership to participate in management training opportunities beyond those offered at state conferences



General Scholarships
 CLOSED - WASFAA Conference
  April 6 – 8, 2008 in Seattle, Washington at the Westin

Amount: $3600 total ($450 award per state)
Timeline: Applications open December 15, 2007, close February 6, 2008
Purpose: To provide access to attend the WASFAA annual conference for expanded training opportunities beyond those offered at state conferences
